HiiT 30

Thank you for your INTEREST!

Check out our VIDEO for more app details:

App in brief detail:

Our mobile fitness app, HiiT 30, allows you to workout anywhere, anytime, with anyone; no equipment is needed.

The workout is performed on your phone which can be held in your pocket or on a fitness band on your arm.

You perform the workout while you’re listening to your OWN music.

The app is 30 workouts, 30 minutes per day, for 30 days.

It’s a High-Intensity Interval Training workout similar to the Japanese workout known as Tabata, which uses an interval of 20 seconds high-intensity exercise paired with 10 seconds of rest. However, our HiiT 30 uses an interval of 30 seconds high-intensity exercise paired with 15 seconds of rest.

Studies show that 2:1 ratios (30sec : 15sec) of interval training produce the optimum level of fitness results (Andrea Metcalf, 2012).

HiiT 30 is also similar to the BeachBody workouts P90X and Insanity.

- P90X is 90 minutes and 90 days (needs equipment),

- Insanity is 60 minutes and 60 days,

- and ours, Hiit 30, is 30 minutes and 30 days.

Our interval training uses 5 different combos (two exercises per combo), lasting 6 minutes each for a total body workout of 30 minutes.

There are 30 different days of workouts. That is where we get the “30 workouts, 30 minutes per day, for 30 days”.

Who is your customer?

Our MARKET: Our market consists of the same market that Beach Body products aim for. We are targeting the fitness junkie that attends fitness competitions like Ironman, Tough Mudder, Triathlons, etc. There are just under 100,000 gyms, personal trainers, and fitness DVDS, however…….all of them are based on other people’s time OR you have to watch a video of someone else. We are now solving that entire market’s problem by allowing them to workout under their own conditions, no one else’s. Our interval training uses 5 different combos (two exercises per combo), lasting 6 minutes each for a total body workout of 30 minutes. There are 30 different days of workouts. That is where we get the “30 workouts, 30 minutes per day, for 30 days”.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

People cannot do full body workout on their OWN time, with their OWN music, or in 30 minutes....UNTIL NOW. With HiiT 30 we cater to all people wanting to be more fit and burn fat with a fitness app that gives you an intense total body workout within 30 minutes that has NO limitations!

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Why we are UNIQUE: Other fitness apps require you to watch the instructor workout or you have to read their exercise description. Most fitness apps also require you to listen to the instructor speak and/or have to listen to THEIR selection of music. We are the only fitness app that allows you to workout WITHOUT having to actually watch your phone/iPad/or laptop. We also allow you to listen to YOUR OWN music. However, we are not just differentiating ourselves from the competition by the aforementioned feature; we are also using a unique way of marketing. Our team will market our app as a "challenge" or “competition”, rather than just another fitness program. We decided on this marketing route because there are many fitness programs out there that are easily defeated and overlooked within the vast competition. However, we noticed that the fitness programs that stand out and maintain longevity are the competitions, such as IRONMAN, Triathlons, Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash, etc. This marketing mindset manifested the "HiiT 30 Challenge". That way when our consumers finish the 30 day challenge they will now be a part of an ELITE COMMUNITY, like that of Ironman finishers. They will also have the ability to share their fitness progress and success on social media sources, such as Facebook and Twitter.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Our BACKGROUND: Phil Michaels, co-founder of the HiiT 30 mobile fitness application, is a recent pre-medicine graduate from The University of Tampa (UT). At UT, Phil was the founder and inaugural president of The UT Pre-Physician Assistant Association (PPAA), made the Dean's List, was co-founder of arguably the largest event planning company in Tampa, and was a member of the UT Student Entrepreneurship Association. After graduating from UT and being employed by the official team physician of The New York Yankees, Phil realized that he was more interested in entrepreneurship than healthcare, so he decided to start his own business. Phil has pitched in front of Kevin Harrington from ABC’s Shark Tank, as well as the founders of the Tampa Bay Incubator of Tech Stars known as: “The Gazelle Lab”. He has recently been accepted to the MBA program at UT and starts in Aug 2012. On May 3rd, 2012, Phil and his partner became semi-finalists for ABC’s show Shark Tank. Phil is currently a printed fitness model and ACE Certified Athletic Trainer. With his passion for health, fitness, and business he became inspired to create a mobile fitness application known as HiiT 30. John McMahan, Co-founder of the HiiT 30 mobile fitness application, is an Ironman 70.3 finisher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship and an MBA from the University of Tampa. He is a passionate, fun, and entertaining entrepreneur with an obsession with fitness. Mr. McMahan is the organizer of a group social running club called Running for Brews with over 1600 members throughout the Greater Tampa Bay Area. He is also a traveling personal trainer focusing on strength & conditioning and weight loss. 2010 - 1st Place in the University of Tampa MBA business plan competition. 2008 - 1st Place in the Collegiate Entrepreneurship Organization (CEO) business plan competition. President of the University of Tampa Entrepreneurship Association As an athlete and personal trainer, he was inspired to take his fitness to the next level with no limitations, which prompted him to help create the HiiT 30 mobile fitness application. TIMELINE of development: The Alpha version of the app is 100% complete and fully functioning on iOS (iPhone operating system). The Prototype 1 (Beta Version 1) will be released on May 15th for testing. We plan for University of Tampa’s Dr. Jacob Wilson to conduct a research experiment, as well as have 50 friends and family test it out to provide us with constructive criticism and feedback so we can make improvements. Dr. Jacob Wilson is with the Allied Health department at the University of Tampa. He has performed fitness testing for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Gatorade. Our team has met with him to see if he will perform a research experiment on our product. By testing the effectiveness of the workout we will be able to use that scientific data for marketing and credibility purposes. Dr. Wilson will allow the project to start on June 1st. Then we will release Prototype 2 (Beta Version 2) on July 15th and again have friends and family test it out and provide us with feedback to make improvements. Then we will release Prototype 3 (Beta Version 3) on September 15th and again have friends and family test it out and provide us with feedback to make improvements. Then we will release Prototype 4 (Official version 1 for Apple) on November 15th because this is when consumers begin to think about their New Years Resolutions.
