Dual purpose portable water storage


The concept of the project is dual purposes water storage (also purifier) which is made out of clay (Earthenware) and wood. It may help to reduce the plastic bottled water and give the sustainable solution for water storage.

Who is your customer?

Small group of people are aware about the negative facts of the bottled drinking water and those people are the target group for the project. Green consumers that means Eco-conscious consumers are the major target audience of the product. They are sincere in their intentions, with a growing commitment to greener lifestyles,judge their environmental practices as inadequate, and most of them prefer the calm,peaceful and healthy lifestyle. Green consumers also follow the sustainable concepts and inspire other people around them. As a social category they represent the upper middle class and value professional education, iconic lifestyle and also engaged with new technology and always update about new things around the world. They always prefer quality and fine products and never mind about the price. Mostly rely on traditional , handicraft and aesthetically value products.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

There are few major concern of the study that are in the current society I. Lack of quality drinking water II. Impact of Bottled Water III. Consumer preferences It is necessary to investigate consumer’s behavior in terms of perception towards the drinking of bottled water and the factors influencing the behavior that drives the consumers towards bottled water consumption. (Delina, P. J. ,and Dasinaa, 2016) (Delina, P. J. ,and Dasinaa, 2016) Brand recognition, quality, convenience, health, price and source of information, individual preferences on aesthetic conditions are the main things that people adopt for the plastic water bottles and bottled water. The dual purposes water bottle address the cool and healthiest water that can make wherever people go. The one of the aim of this project is reduce the plastic container for water storage and reduce the bottled drinking water.Earthy taste cool water and water purify though the porous clay are the main function of the project and it health benefits of the project are highlight through the campaign.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

• Self-cooling: Water inside the bottle cools down • Improved taste of water in Clay bottle as Clay is a natural sweetener because it is pH neutral • Healthy: Risk of catching cold is less while drinking water from Clay bottles unlike refrigerated water • 100% Natural Clay, handcrafted by experienced artisans The root design concept of a water purifier and cooling originates from earthen pot.(Traditional Sri Lankan Gurulththuwa) To make the design more contemporary and aesthetically, there are variations in the form and shapes. The forms have become sleeker and lighter compared to the early bulky earthen pot structures.The clay, ceramic water filters and peace for potters clay filter (table top water filter) are the main inspiration for the project. people also adopted for the natural and traditional things because it never causes any environmental or health impact.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

According to the consumer behavior the green consumers are consider the brand name as well as concerned to the purchasing behavior of the customer brand name also contributes toward the purchasing decision. because of that marketing should be go with the leading eco brands (as for 1st step it is based on the Sri Lankan context ) such as Barefoot, Laksal, etc, Good market etc. The finance plan is still developing. The material cost, labhour cost,marketing campaign,transportation all include for 1000 pieces cost approximately USD 3250.00. The project is looking forward for investor for the 1st step.
