Doux Dalliance Trinidad Cocoa

The business concept is based off of bring the Trinidad cocoa to the United States Market. The Trinidad cocoa crop has slowly diminished over the years due to the oil and gas industry taking over in Trinidad. Our concept is to bring this unique crop to the United States in the form of cocoa nibs and chocolate. In the cocoa nibs, there is no sugar added and it is extremely health beneficial. The nibs can be consumed by itself or can be added into smoothies, milkshakes, hot chocolate etc. These cocoa nibs are different than regular cocoa nibs because there is a fruit flavor in the beans that create the nibs.

Additional Questions

Who is your customer?

Our customers would be anyone who likes to buy organic/natural foods. Consumers that like to buy dark chocolate would also be a target customer.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

We would be looking to bring the Cocoa to the United States. Its already being shipped to Europe so we would need to set up a product line. The market would be to start in the Pittsburgh Region.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The cocoa itself is unique. The cocoa nibs itself are extremely healthy and there is also a fruit flavoring in the cocoa nibs that create the unique flavor. I think it will create success because, people are always looking for new ways and products to live a healthier lifestyle.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

What needs to be established is the product line. The product itself is already there, we just need to get the product to the U.S. We had contact with the person who originally brought the idea to the SEA. If we can get the product here to try and do more market research etc. and establish a product line it would be the only way to get trinitario cocoa in the U.S without direct ordering it.
