The food industry is subject to increasing scrutiny and pressure from both governments and consumers to change the way foods are made, packaged and marketed to improve their impact on health and wellness. Governments across the world are faced with spiraling healthcare costs. Individuals are increasingly aware of the importance diet and nutrition on their personal health and are seeking information and tools to assist them. 1. The food industry can use the curated SKU-level data to engage with their consumers around health and wellness, drive the competitive quality of their portfolios, and manage CSR and regulatory compliance. 2. Government use the objective, longitudinal data to design policies and regulations and to monitor the food supply. 3. Individuals get convenient, easy-to-understand advice to help them choose healthier foods through the award-winning FoodSwitch smartphone application. The community can reciprocate by crowd-sourcing data about new foods as they enter the market.
