Gentle gripper for 10x efficiency

Abstract

We built a very dexterous soft robotic gripper that can pick-up pretty much any object without damaging them. Our patented technology expands the application areas of robotics to include food/produce handling and warehouse picking-packing for order fulfillment to generate 10x more efficient businesses.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Picking and packing is one of the most mundane tasks where human labor is heavily utilized with no financially plausible automated alternatives. We will free humans from these tasks so that they can focus on more value-added activities. Businesses will also get 10 times more efficient in the process.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Modular: Gentle is entirely electric motor driven. So it is plug-and-play. It does not need a huge air compressor and any other peripheral device. Thus, Gentle is significantly more deployable on any existing robotic system. Adaptive: Gentle uses soft fingers that conform to the shape of objects automatically even if the target object shape and size vary significantly. Cost effective: because of its simple and lean design, Gentle costs a tenth of what the competition costs.
