Spoonful LLC

Abstract

Spoonful's main objective is to bring a cheaper and more viable option to the food selection here at the University of Utah. Spoonful is a cereal bar that is open late night which offers all the cereal any student could want, including the option to create different combinations of their favorites called “Cereal Cocktails”. Along with this, I want to bring cartoons back to the college kids, playing their favorites from when they were a kid to wrap up the entire nostalgia package. On top of providing an experience for students to hang out, study and enjoy a bowl of cereal, Spoonful will also provide a delivery service where to-go containers are filled with their favorite cereal and delivered to them directly to class.

Who is your customer?

The entire student body that spends an extended period of time on campus studying or living. We hope to one day have a location on college campus across the nation serving students from all over the globe.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

After extended market research, 46 percent of the 349 students surveyed at the University of Utah are spending more than $10.00 per meal. Students who are already battling debt to attend school shouldn't have to worry about if they can afford their next meal. When asked if they thought food sold on campus was too expensive, 92 percent said absolutely. We want to fix this. With Spoonful serving bowls of cereal starting at $1.50 - $2.00 per bowl, we provide a cheaper and more delicious option.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The feeling of nostalgia that Spoonful wants to bring to these students will cause a feeling that no other food service on campus can provide. We want to allow them to run our menu, giving us insight as to what cereal to add and which to remove. Future plans include giving our customers the chance to enjoy their Saturday morning cartoons in their pajamas by offering a discount for those who show up in their sleepwear. (Shirt and shoes required of course) Spoonful is also unique in the sense that most restaurants on campus close after 7 pm. However, most college students are studying until the early hours of the morning sometimes, and we want to be there for them in case they get hungry.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Spoonful will be Utah's first and only running cereal bar. There is no rivaling company that has set up shop on any campus across the nation, making Spoonful the first of its kind. In our first stage of running, we plan to implement our delivery service on campus during the spring of the 2018-2019 school year. This will create talk around the student body about Spoonful and allow us to make our mark on campus. This will continue until we could either afford to build a food truck or have our own standing restaurant on campus. We want to keep the student body involved in the
