Wycked Hitch


Wycked Hitch is a family owned business that manufactures and fabricates custom trailer hitches and accessories for specialty markets. Sales are done through dealerships, distributors, online and locally. We also travel to trade shows and events where we install hitches/accessories.

Our #1 product is the Wycked Hitch System for the 3 wheeled Polaris Slingshot. We are currently working with 3 distributors who handle on-line sales for us across the country. We also sell through our website and have listings on ebay.

We plan to expand our manufacturing to other markets, finish a new business facility (which is under construction), and hire employees as needed.

Who is your customer?

Presently our customers are owners, dealerships, online sales companies, and enthusiasts of the Polaris Slingshot. We currently sell throughout the US and Canada. We are planning to begin sales in Europe eventually.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Our Wycked Hitch System solves the "no storage" issue with the Slingshot, allowing customers to add luggage racks, bike racks, trailer hitches, or other customized accessories to their Slingshots. This is done by simply sliding the accessory into the proprietary "diamond" receiver.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

This is the only receiver type hitch on the market for the Slingshot. It has the highest load rating, does not attach to the rear swing-arm, and is hidden from view when not in use. It is the only adjustable hitch frame in the world that allows the receiver height to be adjusted through a "truss rod." The hitch has been thoroughly Beta Tested, and passed with flying colors. Sales will increase greatly once an advertising campaign begins. Reviews on the Slingshot forums and from the dealerships are all very favorable. It is the only dealer approved and installed hitch on the market for the Slingshot.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

As stated above, we have not done any "paid" advertising or marketing of our product to date. Instead we have worked with Beta testers who contacted us through 2 different Slingshot forums, who the spread the word about the hitch for us. Initial sales began through word of mouth. This has been done because we wanted to test the product thoroughly, have product liability insurance in hand, and develop the final production units to perfection. We picked up our 3 nationwide distributors through word of mouth and individual correspondence with the company owners who are all very excited about the product. Currently our team is manufacturing hitches to meet projected needs. We have a small inventory on hand that is drop shipped to customers as our distributors take orders. We have asked them not to advertise the product at this time so we will be able to build inventory. We are prepared to have Magic Metals assist with the manufacturing should demand exceed our current inventory. We are constructing a new production facility to meet future needs. Our dedication to continued customer service and support is something that will bring in new customers while keeping the business of current customers. We custom fabricate trailer couplers to meet the needs of our customers. We will be adding various accessories to our line of products as we develop them and expand into other markets. Our nationwide distributors will assist in the advertising and promotion of our products. As stated previously, our hitch system is the only dealership tested and approved hitch on the market. Cycle Springs in Florida initially partnered with us to test and distribute the Wycked Hitch System. They sell the hitch through their site; www.slingshotonly.com. Our other distributors are Slingmods.com and Pimpmyslingshot.com. We are working with Berts Mega Mall (California), The #1 Slingshot Dealer in the World, who agreed to become a distributor when we met with them in person this summer. The #2 Slingshot dealership in the world is Cycle Springs (Florida), who currently sells and installs our products at events across the country. We plan to add many more dealerships to our distributor list in the near future.
