Egg and Chicken meat production

Adlove poultry is a farm that will focus on both egg and meat production. More than 60 % of total meat/egg consumption in the country was met by the export from other countries. National production fulfills only 40% of the demand. In this scenario, poultry farming has got a huge potential in Nigeria, Putting this scenario into consideration, I decided to capitalize this opportunity to serve the people and to make the country self-dependent in the poultry products.

I will not only offer products, but I will offer services as well. I plan to provide home delivery services to customers who order a certain amount of products. This offer will mostly be used by the section of my target market that uses eggs in large quantities like schools and bakeries.

2000 chickens would be optimum for the initial operation of the business. Production site is in Owoeba area,Osogbo plenty open space, cheap labors, road connection, water availability and immediate access to markets like Ilesa market and Osogbo market. Investment in this business shall be allocated to the following purposes: buying chickens (point of lay), building pen house, stocking the pellets, hiring the experts, feeds, drugs and battery cage. Loan repayment within 5 years and I hope to obtain the breakeven point within 3 years of operations withholding the chances of any accidental or unexpected incidence.

I have considered the risks, financial, health and technology wisely

Additional Questions

Who is your customer?

Hotel and restaurants, bakeries and food joints, retail shops, homes and individual. Individuals are a small sector in the market segmentation. They are a pretty large group but they buy a relatively small amount of eggs. The part of the market that I hope to supply large amount of eggs to are the industries that need eggs. I have strategically placed my site close to these industries. They are bakeries, restaurants, boarding schools, home delivery food centers, retail shops and supermarkets. Another part of my target market that will order my products in medium quantities are the homes that will require our home delivery as I have a set amount of eggs they need to order for. Homes generally utilize eggs in the preparation of edibles like chicken burger, chicken pie, salads, Scotch egg, omelets, egg soup etc. I have considered the needs of each section of the target markets and I plan on meeting these needs effectively.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

The project will address the prevailing food poisoning majorly caused by infected poultry brought to the community. It will also address the issue of malnutrition and sales of infected chicken. It will also alleviate unemployment in my Community which has resulted in various forms of social vices (robbery, raping, kidnapping etc) threatening the community.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Required vaccines will be administered to chickens, healthy ones will be slaughtered, processed by automated machine and washed very well before packaging in strong cellophane and stored in the freezer for sale. Chicken will be reared in the cage to avoid eggs contamination. These methods will help us to contain rampant salmonellosis outbreak acquired by ingesting contaminated chickens. People have lost their lives to this epidemic including my only sister, as a result of this, I am determined to creating access to high quality and healthy chickens for low income communities. The presence of the business in this community will also curb prevailing social vices through job creation and skill acquisition programmes for the youths.
