Maple and Oak

Abstract

I personally design and handcraft individual wooden earrings with a variety of wood and metal materials. I design and draw these on a computer which then interfaces with a precise CNC machine. Once the carving is completed, I sand and finish each piece, affix the findings, and package them for sale.

Who is your customer?

Girls and women who want natural materials, uniquely handcrafted. I've mostly sold in Colorado, but through word of mouth and my website I'm getting orders in other states.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

These earrings give women lightweight, fabulous accessories. They're also made of natural materials. People love buying local and they love buying handmade products. The designs are creative and customers love them.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

People enjoy wearing art. They can display it on their walls but it's something different to be able to wear it around. Its also very popular to wear hand-crafted jewelry. I also like to share my story about how I design and make them - which helps people connect with the product.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Its easy for me to create many different designs because of the technology I use. I plan on selling them at local boutiques and I worked with my Dad to create a website where I can sell them online. I've already spoke with a local coffee shop, a hair salon and a vendor shop. All have said they would love to display and sell my product. I'm also interested creating other products like hair clips and necklaces. People are willing to buy my products over other handmade jewelry because they are lightweight, have a natural look and go with everything you wear. They also love buying from a 12 year old! I've already sold over 75 pairs of earrings.
