The Adventures of Gus the Alaskan Pilot Dog is an illustrated children's book series that has an over-arching goal to encourage children (unfortunately many of whom are disheartened because they have been told or think they are worthless, stupid or incapable) to dream Big and pursue their passions. The First book introduces children to the thrill of flying and shows what objects look like when flying up high. In the Second book, Gus shows how his passion for flying gives him the drive to pursue his dream and get his pilot's license. For the Third book Gus meets new friends and discovers how teamwork helps to get the job done.

Who is your customer?

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

The problem is children who have been told that they cannot do anything of value. We live in a time of naysayers who say that "It is too hard, too dangerous, too difficult!" Gus brings a positive message saying "YES! You Can!" Children's imaginations resound and identify with Gus's emphatic motto "Paws Up!" In addition we are finding that adults are looking to Yolanda for encouragement, and as an international author she speaks with greater authority for positive, healthy living.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Gus's positive, encouraging, friendly and adventurous persona and those of his friends are an inspiration to children. People love Alaska and are drawn to it's wide open spaces and unlimited potential that says, "The sky is the limit."

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

The emphasis on bilingual editions opens up Gus and his adventures in Alaska to children around the world. Because Yolanda has so many years working with children, she understands the mindset of a young child. As someone who lives in Alaska, she actually experiences first-hand the thrill and adventure of flying in 'The Last Frontier'.
