Masar - Mobile Solar Energy

Abstract

Masar specializes in rapidly-deployable (mobile) smart energy solutions with its flagship product, Masar Box (a containerized solar power plant that provides 24/7 solar energy) that can be set up in less than 60 minutes. The company has successfully crowdfunded and deployed Masar Box in a rural village that provides electricity to 1,000 people.

Masar Box is ideal for off-grid villages, constructions sites, mines, tourist resorts and farms, as it helps cut down on diesel costs significantly (up to 50%) while saving the environment and cutting down CO2 emissions.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Diesel generator capacity in Africa is estimated at 20GW (vs 2GW of solar) i.e. 10x that of solar despite the hassle of daily refueling, high cost per kWh and environmental/noise pollution cased by diesel generators. Masar Box offers solar power for as low as €0.15 on average (at least 50% cheaper than diesel kWh), takes less than 60 minutes to set up and can provide electricity for 24/7 utilizing a patented storage technology that works up to 65C with low maintenance.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Cleaner electricity, no hassle of daily refueling, low maintenance, cheaper, leasing option provides OPEX-oriented spending vs. high-capex of traditional solar

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?
