Valley 365 Greens

Abstract

Valley 365 Greens uses a up-cycled shipping container converted into a vertical hydroponic growing system. One unit will produce the equivalent of 2 acres of leafy greens. This is around 500 heads of lettuce a week all year long. The unit uses 90% less water than a conventional farm and can be placed almost anywhere.

This sustainable agricultural system will make farm to table a 365 day a year reality.

Our customers are produce distributors, restaurant chefs, and individual personal sales.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Valley 365 Greens discovered a challenge in the Treasure Valley with a lack of local produce. Most produce being sold was imported more then 150 miles away or further. There is not enough local produce to keep up with the demand of a growing population.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The team at Valley 365 Greens is using the lean start up method by implementing the Business Model Canvas. After 75 local/nationwide interviews it was evident that there was a need for local leafy greens that were not available 365 days a year. The hydroponic farming system that Valley 365 Greens will empliment offers local, fresh, non GMO leafy greens.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

We at Valley 365 Greens will start with one up-cycled container unit with a hydroponic farming system. Future plans involve expansion units to be placed in the surrounding cities and Magic Valley. Because the unit uses less then 10 gallons of water a day and no pesticides people can feel good about eating produce from our company. Valley 365 Greens has two advantages over our competition. Our company can produce 365 days/year and can control the containers environment to grow whatever produce is in demand. People want to know how, where, and who is growing their food. Valley 365 Greens offers a clean water growing system, locally produced and cultivated by a farmer who wants to move forward with new technology right here in the Treasure Valley. People can feel good about purchasing produce from Valley 365 Greens.
