Abstract

Mossosouk.com is the pioneer and largest marketplace e-commerce platform connecting buyers and sellers with the best shopping and fastest home delivery experience in Chad.

The startup name comes from two words Mosso in a local tongue mostly spoken in the southern part of Chad meaning trade, and souk in Arabic spoken mostly in the northern part which means market. It's another way to say to people in our country which have been through many internal conflicts to reconciliate and work together for better and brighter future.

Today, Mossosouk.com presents itself as web and mobile platform built on a strong community of returning customers helping on one hand hundreds of sellers to gain visibility, grow in sales and revenues and therefore sustain themselves and their families and on the other hand hundreds of buyers to experience convenience and security with a customer-centric service, a fast delivery service, and innovative local means of payment such as mobile payment and payment on delivery.

We plan now to secure fund for growth and scaling nationwide and replicating our business models in neighboring countries and all over the African continent.

Who is your customer?

As an e-commerce marketplace built on a community of buyers and sellers, we are in a double-sided market case with two major types of customer. On one hand we have sellers, they are of three different kinds in our platform: shop owners in major cities often in real local market lacking visibility and sales, individuals who want to sell personal stuffs or second hand products and companies lacking e-commerce platform. On the other hand we have buyers, they represent the growing middle class of our country, they are characterized by having a good paying job and are located in the major cities of our country. Aged also between 18 and 45, they have also good presence in the online world and spend a good time on their smartphones connected to the internet. Some of them are usually busy and do not have enough time to go shopping physically.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Hapsita is a young shop owner selling quality traditional clothes in a remote neighborhood in the capital city of Chad, like countless of others, sustaining herself and her family through that business. But because of her shop location she was lacking visibility and therefore sales to countless of potential customers. Hapsita was near to close her shop as she couldn't afford the costs of maintaining that business and was wandering how she will sustain her family and lift them out of poverty. Hapista's problem and story is not a kind of story made to win a startup competition, but actually is a real one. Today she has been able through our platform to gain visibility and make more revenue like never before lifting people in her family out of poverty. Mossosouk.com is solving the lack of product visibility problem in our country and soon beyond. Most of the time, a good and affordable product is not well known to people because the shop is geographically limited in a certain area or it has to close. By putting their products online in our marketplace, today, many sellers in the main city of our country are gaining visibility like never before making more sales. Many of them are increasing revenue through our platform lifting their families out of poverty.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The attributes that will make this product successful is first, our customer-centric approach to our market focusing on customer satisfaction putting him first and giving them the best selling and shopping experience and a very fast delivery service. Second, to build a better user experience on our mobile app always using customer-centric approach. All these have lead us to a tremendous growth in sales in the past and will lead us, we strongly believe, to an overwhelming success in the future for a very satisfied customer is for us a returning customer plus tree new ones.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Beside our customer-centric approach to our market focusing on customer satisfaction, we are also a highly motivated team of 5 believing in our mission to build a place where everyone can buy and sell anytime anywhere and bring innovation and prosperity in our country and Africa. This mission-driven approach to business is what differentiate us profoundly with our competitors even after being pioneer in our market.
