Abstract

Other Half is a new social app that allows users to be social with their friends not just online but in real life. Other Half encourages users to go on dates, do activities with friends or family, try new places, and many other things instead of sitting on their phone at home. Other Half supplies their users with discounts from many top restaurant or entertainment places nearby them. The catch and what makes Other Half so unique, the discount is only valid if you and a friend are together in the same location. You need your “Other Half” to have a valid discount, thus meaning every single discount is only accessible when our users are together and being social. Other Half is making social life easier, safer, and more affordable for everyone.

Who is your customer?

The way Other Half will monetize its users is by charging local restaurants and locations for advertising space in the app. On the main screen, there are slots where we can place ads for locations that want to be seen to the mass. The concept is once Other Half has enough users, we can approach smaller business and show them how many people will be seeing their business every day in our advertisement spots. This monetization will occur once we have reached a couple thousands of users.The users are key in reaching the end goal of business as customers who are looking for an advertisement spot.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Online dating and social media has grown rapidly in the past few years in our society. It is becoming more common every day to meet up someone who may be a complete stranger to you but a friend you met online. This new trend of meeting up with online people have led to many dangerous encounters and sexual assault cases. Other Half provides many people with the option to meet up at a public and safe environment, by offering a discount that is only valid when the two users are at the same location this incentive many people to meet somewhere in public. The more people meeting in public, the safer the situation is for first time encounters. Also another problem that Other Half address for the companies that are looking to be featured on the app is two customers for the price of one discount. This is a great deal for many stores and restaurants because the cost for a discount usually on brings in one customer, but with Other Half App two customers per discount is what they will receive in return for working with the app.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

People are always looking for a good deal on places to eat at or on entertainment. Meanwhile locations and businesses are always looking for opportunities to have their name and location in front of consumers. This app provides both sides with what they want, users with deals and locations with new customers. This app alone can be very successful because people are always looking for the next deal. But also the success of the app can be massive with the growth of online dating. On the business side, the app will be successful because of the concept of discounts only being valid with two users. Locations and businesses love this concept because the app is bringing two customers for the price of one customers.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

The app is based on a technology that is patented and will prevent lots of competitors from entering the market. The patented technology is key intellectual property when it comes to working with other online platforms in the future. The patent covers the technology involved when the discount is synced once two users are in the same location. The idea also will grow quickly at college campuses around the nation where there are plenty of students looking to go on dates or simply get food to eat with some friends.
