ChapCap seeks to solve a common problem among many frequent users of lip balm. The majority of lip balms feature a twist mechanism that is very loose, causing inadvertent twisting of the lip balm inside the users pocket. This causes lip balm to become jammed inside the lid and many times, causing the twist mechanism to stop working all together. In response, ChapCap put a new twist on lip balm...literally. To do this, ChapCap created a patent pending cap attachment for the bottom of a lip balm tube. This cap attachment creates a small amount of extra friction around the tube, keeping the twist mechanism in place when small amounts of force are applied. To dispense lip balm, there is no need to take the cap attachment off, simply twist the cap as you would on a normal tube of lip balm. To use along with the cap attachment, we have created a sleek looking, 100% natural lip balm that is undoubtedly the best you will ever try.

Who is your customer?

We have chosen a specific target market of men and women aged 16-25. We anticipate this market segment to be open to new and innovative products. We also believe this is the segment of the market that is most likely to initiate trends. We have designed our labels, packaging, etc. to cater to this specific group of people.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Users of lip balm commonly have the problem of lip balm getting stuck in the lid due to inadvertent twisting of the rotary actuation collar. This sequence ruins the lip balm in most cases. The ChapCap is a simple, patent pending device that applies the perfect amount of friction to the rotary actuation collar, keeping it from twisting involuntarily in the user's pocket. The ChapCap does not have to be removed when dispensing lip balm. You simply twist the ChapCap as you would normally twist the rotary actuation collar to dispense the lip balm.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The problem solved by the ChapCap is extremely common among users of lip balm, yet there are no solutions. By introducing this solution to the market, paired with a top of the line, 100% natural lip balm, we anticipate a large turnout of people excited about our product.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

The great thing about our product is it is the first of its kind. We are the first to market a removable device that acts as a twist stopper on a tube of lip balm and we have successfully applied for a provisional patent on our device. The first thing we plan to do is gauge market interest my creating a Kickstarter campaign. We believe our online presence will be the key so we plan on creating a premium website and social media pages to prepare for the commencement of our Kickstarter campaign. After the completion of Kickstarter, we anticipate on rolling our product out into retail stores. We hope to generate a lot market interest through our internet marketing and our Kickstarter campaign, making it easier to find retailers willing to carry our product. Finally, the biggest reason our product will succeed is the passion and excitement our team has for our product.
