Globalisation of Digital Health

Abstract

Digital health is an emerging industry where medicine and technology are coming together to transform medicine as we know it. Innovation and adoption of digital health tools such as artificial intelligence and medical wearables are resulting in lives being saved and healthcare costs being reduced. These technologies are currently known and available to a few due to a lack of training and access to the technologies.

IMT is a marketplace for digital health and our mission is utilising the internet to deliver healthcare everywhere. To accelerate the development and adoption of these techniques on a global scale to advance medicine and help patients worldwide. We educate, connect and enable innovation. We just launched the first digital health academy in the world, and have the largest digital health network in Europe.

Who is your customer?

We have 2 types of customers: - Corporate who want to innovate the delivery of healthcare and transform their business with digital health tools. For example, using AI and machine learning to look and train their clinical data. - Individuals who want to learn about and utilize digital health. We run digital health courses and specialized conferences for professionals. Patients and caregivers who want to learn and receive care using the internet. This is free of charge.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Digital health is transforming healthcare as we know it. Telemedicine is allowing patients in remote areas, or patients unable to move, to be seen my doctors and even have ultrasound scans using their phones. Artificial Intelligence is now able to diagnose cancers more efficiently than humans, and even predict metastasis with 96% accuracy. Digital health is the emergence of medicine and technology, a market that is expected to reach $21B by 2020. However, medicine and tech have traditionally been 2 different industries, healthcare professionals and not trained in tech and vice versa. There is a gap in education that IMT is filling. With our work we are enabling innovation which allows the digital health industry to grow. We are working on democratizing healthcare using digital tools so it can be accessed by anyone in the world, decrease costs, and enhance patient outcomes.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The website is free to use and therefore accessible to anyone with an internet connection. Right now, we deliver courses in a venue. The next step up is to allow the platform to deliver and store digital health training so anyone can benefit from it. The marketplace would allow the intelligent matching between ideas and products to funding and customers, therefore accelerating innovation and helping medicine to advance faster. An accelerator will enhance and accelerate these tasks. Our community is one of the largest digital health networks in the world with representation from 171 countries.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

I am a recognized leader in the digital health world and was recently named as one of the top 100 global influencers in healhtech. I was recently involved in setting up a smart home medical device for which I raised £2M and built a world-class team from Google and top Pharma. In my previous roles, I set up successful long-term commercial relationships with pharmaceutical companies securing £3M in sales. Over the past 3 years, I have run digital health events with over 2,500 attendees. IMT has an unmatched network of thought-leaders, mentors, entrepreneurs and students. I recently mentored Barts X the first digital health course for medical students in the world and my team won with the idea of a snapchat for medicine. IMT has a detailed and agile growth plan which has been refined during our first year of life. The plan is based on the adoption of the services we already rolled out, and two new features that would democratize and grow the platform further. The team already has leading, tech and operation skills and our pipeline is rapidly growing with 5 new clients in the last 6 weeks. We have a deep understanding of digital health, the pharmaceutical industry, precision medicine and a desire to make the world a healthier place.
