Hero Application

Abstract

Hero’s services are to strictly provide a social platform for patients on the national organ donation waiting list in need of a living transplant, also for potential donors who are voluntarily signing up to possibly be a living donor match to one of these patients out of their own good will. By donating a kidney, a piece of the liver, or bone marrow which can all be donated by living people. Donors who sign up on our App are willing people who are already knowledgeable of the transplant process or willing to educate themselves on the process to give the gift of life. This means that these donors are voluntarily participating in this app in good will to help others. They are able to back out at any given time as well as noted. No financial compensation shall be gained by the donor in the process for providing the organ, unless for traveling expenses and expenses that affect the donor directly in the process will be accepted by law under the Section 3 of the Organ Donation and Recovery Improvement Act(ODRIA), 42 U.S.C. 274f. After the Potential donor or persons who are signed up as a (HERO) get exposure to these patient’s story on are platform and realizing they have a potential match to donate by blood type, location, race, and connection in a friendly manner through our messaging services, we are finished on our end. Our services are strictly to provide a social platform to help connect the match, and provide a way for them to communicate further in their organ donation process. The pair will then be in contact with their own transplant centers of choice and we will no longer be a service for them unless needed again if all does not work out as planned with the first match. We strictly do not involve ourselves with any part of the transplant process or medical centers where the further tests are given to ensure donor’s compatibility. Our main goal of getting the Recipients story out in the Hero social platform for more exposure to potential donors who sign up looking for a recipient to save by donating the gift of life and be a HERO to another citizen.

Who is your customer?

Any American citizen recipient in need of a living organ transplant that wants to expand there chances of finding a willing donor near them through a social platform. The living donor procedure is limited to liver, kidney, and bone marrow. These are the main customers that will be signing up for our app. Also donors that want to make a change in someones life and be a hero also contribute to adding profiles to our platform which is very important to our concept.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

This idea of a social platform for organ donors and recipients is helping the small and often forgotten community in need of living transplants. I dealt with this problem in my family first hand and it is a very costly and time sensitive matter to get publicity to widen the recipients chances of finding a donor outside of your families reach. Our platform will consist of a mix of donors and recipients that will be matched only by blood type, gender and ethnicity, which is the first step in finding a living donor. After, they find a possible match by seeing a compatible information on their page, our integrated messaging system will let them connect with each other to go further in to the donor process by contacting a transplant center of their choice together. Our platforms main goal is to extend the families out reach to potential donors in a cost efficient manor. By being able to link GoFundMe accounts, facebook campaigns, and any other social media content to their profiles will provide them more publicity to their story. We will fix the problem of costly advertising and little exposure these stories get by having a community filled with donors and recipients to help each other get back to a healthy life.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The reason for making this app and the drive for it to be successful is for the 22 people who die each day waiting for a living transplant. These people use any method they can to get their story out into the public. From newspaper articles, billboards, radio stations, and other costly ways of exposure. I Orlando Smith know this first hand because what inspired this idea was my baby cousin who was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia which is a deadly liver disease. She needed a partial liver donation. In her campaign we had to pay for all three of those costly methods of exposure, yet we still came up short with no donors. Luckily with a few months to spare before terminal illness, a distant cousin was a match for my baby cousin. With this App as a social platform, we will have the ability to connect people in need of an organs to healthy humans across our nation that are willing to donate and save others lives and be a HERO. According to the national donation society 82% of the people on the transplant list are in need of a kidney, which about 60% of Americans are eligible to donate. The number of living donors sense 2010 has been increasing slightly in the last eight years. This is from the more exposure the web has to offer by informing people they can save others in need around them and more exposure to these people stories through other social media campaigns. Right now would be the best market entry opportunity to create a vast social connection in our country to save lives a success. Our platform that helps match you to a potential donor and integrated messaging features will create great success in helping others needs of finding a donor.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

I as the main owner of the company have already out sourced a developer team to help create this idea to a reality. We have worked together to create a beta version of our app that is accessible and fully functioning to developers and I to show the concept of our product. We have dedicated over a hundred hours and counting in to the beta version. In the attached photos I have added screen shots of how are app looks and the easy to understand layout and concept of being on the application. Our next step in this process is getting it on to the App store which we have had complications with. We need more legal documentation of what we are trying to do and how we comply federally with state laws, which we don't have the means at this moment to full fill. This is where I am hoping we can use this competition to expand our resources to get this idea moving forward. I am at an advantage of already owning a beta version and design of the app that is completed in the first version. There is very little in this market that has to do with connecting donors and no app has been made to help donors in this concept before. Our name and branding I believe is to what also makes this concept very unique. By having the only app named "HERO" on the market and a slogan of "Be a hero, and donate the gift of life" I believe is a major key in our platforms exposure and sucess.
