Phetch

Abstract

Phetch is a company that aims to shorten the length of time a pet is lost by building a community that will assist in the search of any companion. With this goal in mind, we are offering a new microchip that has GPS capabilities and pet identification registered to a mobile application upon purchase.

Phetch will take the responsibility of hiring “Phetchers” who are essentially a community of qualified individuals willing to make themselves available to pet owners. When an owner marks the pet as lost on the mobile application, the microchip will activate the microchip’s GPS and emit a live signal within a one mile radius of its location. Any person who is a registered Phetcher will be made aware of the location if they are within this one mile range of the pet. This will allow the companion to be found and brought to the nearest shelter safely by the person closest to it. This shelter will then proceed to scan the microchip and notify the owner about the whereabouts of their pet.

Further, if the owner has offered a compensation, this transaction will take place within the mobile application.

Additional Questions

Who is your customer?

Our services targets very few specific groups of people. First, we decided to market to workers who have a 9-5 job and may not be able to be in the vicinity of their put too often. Ironically, we've also decided to target people who are with their dog more often than not. However, these people are the ones who take their pets to the dog park often enough for it to potentially get lost. Finally, we targeted senior citizens and people who may not be physically able to search for a lost companion.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Currently, there are no microchips available to pet owners that allow the manual update of the pets information. Our application provides users with administrative rights to their companions information. We have also opted to build a community that have a passion for animals in general. This community will be used to assist in the search of pets to efficiently lower the amount of time any pet has been lost for.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The idea of a large community with one common goal is what sets us apart from out competitors. Pet owners will do anything they can to bring their companions back home. Our competitors may provide GPS tracking for owners but we provide an entire team to help search for their family.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

The first step to launching this business is to initiate an R&D process that will create the collar necessary for the company to work. Since we have done much research on existing collars and GPS tracking technology, we have an idea about what needs to be done and who will be able to do it for us.
