Additional Questions

Who is your customer?

Our mobile app provides services for the hundreds of thousands of dog owners in New Zealand. Our customer however will be the the pet industry which is valued at $1.8 billion in New Zealand. Puppy Play Date will allow the pet industry to advertise directly to their consumers. This is particularly advantageous for small businesses as it increases their visibility to the consumer. At the same time consumers will also be able to receive the latest offers making this mutually beneficial for both parties.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Dogs are the second most abundant companion animal in NZ. Dog owners like their dogs are social creatures however there is nothing that connects the individual owner with their wider community. Currently information is circulated on a person to person basis or via obscure social media groups which is highly inefficient. Puppy Play Date (PPD) is an easy to use mobile app, giving users instant access to the dog community making it easier to find events, products and stay connected. PPD gives this community an identity, bringing people together due to their common love of dogs.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The PPD app encompasses features of social networking, social media, multimedia, photos, instant messaging, retail, news and information. This allows the user to interact with a wider network of dog owners, event organisers and businesses offering products and services all communicating in one space. PPD allows the user to instantly connect with like minds in both their immediate and extended community improving the sharing of information such as news, recommendations, events, product and services. Millennial owners in the age range of 25 – 34 years of age make up the highest percentage (35%) of dog owners in NZ. This is advantageous as millennials are the highest users of mobile apps, giving us and advertisers access to the largest proportion of the target audience. At the moment there is no app like it, and given the popularity of dogs both here in NZ and the US we believe the app is scalable and has global appeal.
