Techwell "Have no fear or anxiety."

Abstract

NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION RAISING AWARENESS & PROMOTE EDUCATION OF MENTAL HEALTH EFFECTS OF TECHNOLOGY; The main focus of this Technology Wellness organization is aiding the alleviation of anxiety and depression related to technology's influence on daily life. It is increasingly important for young people to recognize the pressures and influences social media has on life and schedule and how to maintain a healthy balance. By providing mentorship, educational resources, along with attainable goals, the purpose of the organization is to help those who deal with any of the following:

- Internet & Phone addiction

- Fear & Anxiety

- Comparisons and body image

- Time Management

- Depression caused by instant gratification

to improve quality of Life, Relationships, & Productivity.

My goal is to build a network of Technology, Health, Education, & Psychology-minded leaders caring about these issues; to host events aimed at raising money and continuing to educate young people.

Who is your customer?

We are aimed at serving students suffering from one or several of the above issues associated with harmful mental health impacts of technology in daily life; especially those who have experienced harm or stress from social media. As a UT college student, my goal is to spread a widespread awareness and education for young people of how they can lead healthfully in the college campus environment during the Information Revolution, beginning at the University of Texas in Austin. After, continuing on to other campuses, and schools.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Currently there are NO resources available to students directly targeting the importance of balancing technology use with health and lifestyle. Although UT is named one of the healthiest campuses in the nation, students are letting general and social anxiety in conjunction with device usage go unnoticed or are what they perceive to be as "the norm". By addressing these issues, UT will lead the way for bridging Technology with Health and Wellness in Education, help those who may be suffering, and inform many on how to lead healthy lives in union with various feeds of information.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Starting at one of the largest and academically competitive universities in Texas, TECHWELL will be at the forefront of this issue facing our American culture and society. By partnering with the UT Wellness Network, I believe that opportunity for future grow is far beyond the scope of UT's campus. TECHWELL values are aligned with millennial and iGen needs. This non-profit has the capability of providing aid for many educational institutions. I dream of increasing the target age range to include junior high and high-school age kids in the hopes that none will feel isolated behind a screen when dealing with the issues mentioned previously.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

By attracting Technology, Health, Education, & Psychology-minded leaders who care about these issues, I would hope to build a network of educated individuals to host events aimed at raising money and continuing the education of young people on activities and techniques they must be aware of when using devices and social media. These activities and techniques are surrounding issues that are not being addressed nationwide by psychologists and doctors because they are so new.
