Make a Change World / Media company


Make A Change World is a media company and creative agency that is on a mission to do good by creating 100% original digital videos.

We believe in the power of storytelling and effective online videos as a source of inspiration. Our platform exists to share stories of change-makers from around the world via 1-3min videos to raise awareness for causes we care about. Our hope is to encourage our viewers to make small changes towards living a more sustainable life.

This summer, we kayaked down the most polluted river in the world, the Citarum River, on plastic bottle kayaks. Our goal was to raise awareness of the dangers of plastic pollution. After watching our videos, the Indonesian Ministry of the Environment declared an emergency response plan to clean-up the river. Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, announced that a total rehabilitation plan to clean-up the Citarum has begun in January 2018.

For our next project, #BroCleanBKLN, this past November we paddled down two of America's most polluted waterways (Gowanus Canal and the Newtown Creek) on Standup Paddle Boards to raise awareness on the state of these two rivers.

Who is your customer?

The aim of the Make a Change World is to create video series that focus on bringing positive international light to social issues we care about. Our videos in the past have reached millions through social media. Our goal is to convince our viewers to start making small changes towards living a more sustainable life. For our most recent project, #PlasticBottleCitarum, my brother Gary and I, kayaked down one of the most polluted rivers in the world, the Citarum River, located in Indonesia, on two plastic-bottle kayaks. Our goal is to influence our viewers, governments and citizens alike to live more sustainably.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Make a Change World is on a mission to change the environment -- and the world -- with films. Together, my brother and I founded Make A Change World, a platform dedicated to creating impactful videos. Our platform exists to share stories of the organizations and the people we admire. We promote their initiatives with the hope of encouraging our viewers to make small changes towards living a more sustainable life. Our goal is to reach as many people as possible and inspire them.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

We believe in the power of storytelling and social media. Our work is focused on amplifying the voices of the eco champions, the doers, and those fighting night and day for a cleaner world. We take advantage of all platforms available today to raise public awareness, drive engagement and motivate people to take action. We use cameras as a media vehicle to document some of the most polluted places in the world and tell stories about those committed to making a difference. We post our videos on social media and they have been shared around the world, enticing national and international press coverage and our videos have been going viral. Hence our motto, "Changing the world one view at a time.”

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Although Make a Change World is entirely run by my brother Gary, my sister Kelly and I, the 80+ videos that we have published on our platform have been viewed by millions. We are one of the first sustainable media outlets that focuses on solutions and innovations. Since our start 10 months ago, we have reached 150+ million views and attained 100+ thousand Facebook followers. Our greatest accomplishment is convincing the Indonesian government to clean-up the Citarum river, one of the world's most polluted rivers.
