Hearty News

Hearty News is Mongolia's first social media channel delivering video contents about progresses in global innovation, science, technology, human intellect, talents, stories of perseverance, environmental protections, tackling of climate change, and social developments. Additionally, we focus heavily on promoting young generation of role models, and adopt gender sensitive reporting practice.

Our goal is to promote STEM education whilst filling in the enormous gap in positive news about how innovation is tacking the the most pressing development issues globally.

Hearty News has a distinct editorial policy, in that it covers wide variety of newsworthy topics, often neglected by the mainstream media. As a small editorial and production team, we carefully pick stories that have positive connotations and influence rather than those that are negative and unnecessarily sensationalised.

The Facebook's lack of will to share revenues with international content producers, leads us to fund the channel ourselves and earn a revenue from sponsorship and broadcast deals.

Currently we use Facebook as our core channel but we have also started distribution via Twitter and Youtube.

Mongolian media is flooded with uninspiring tabloid style news often heavily influenced by political rhetoric. News media and journalism has an outdated and "boxed" views on what is "News". Secondly, Mongolia has a population of 3 million and yet it has 90 television, 140 newspapers and over 160 news websites. Contrary to popular belief, the media industry in Mongolia is in credibility crisis due to excess number of media channels and lack of quality journalism and educational contents on science and technology. We realised media had no relevancy and instead it starved off a new generation of readers/viewers with news contents that inspires, informs and changes behaviors. Our brief success story led us to believe that there is a massive undeserved market for a media channel like Hearty News.
