monikur Client Communicator

Abstract

monikur is a specialized messaging app that enables attorneys and other professionals to text and talk with their clients in a controlled environment. Communication with clients is by name, not phone number, which allows professionals to keep their cell number private. Mobile access to the professional is by invitation only and “office hours” determine when the professional may be reached by cell. Clients are automatically organized by name and easily identified as calls and texts come in, which makes client numbers and conversations easy to retrieve. Usage reports and text conversations may be exported to PDF for billing and record keeping.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Providing unfettered cell phone access to clients raises several problems. Cell phones provide convenience and immediate access, but lack controls to determine who may call or text and when. Calls and texts come in by phone number, not name (unless attorneys want to add clients to their personal phone contacts), making it difficult to identify the sender, find prior text conversations, or find client phone numbers. Moreover, traditional text messaging is informal in nature and lacks export features for record keeping and billing. monikur serves professionals and the legal community in particular. It is a specialized messaging app that enables attorneys to connect and communicate with their clients without sharing their phone number. Cell phone access to the attorney is by invitation only. Connecting happens by name, not number, so calls and texts are easily identifiable. Usage reports organized by client name can be exported to PDF for simple record keeping and billing.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Cell phone technology has been built on the assumption that the user wants to be easily accessible. monikur addresses a common issue among attorneys. Clients expect the convenience and immediacy of cell phone access, but attorneys don’t want to be their own 24/7 call center. Attorneys need to filter the flow of calls and texts coming in to their cell phone so they can stay productive and organized. monikur enables the attorney to specifically allow only their clients mobile access by invitation, to determine what times and days that access is available, to organize calls and texts by name automatically, and to export usage reports for simple record keeping and billing.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

As a self-employed practicing attorney for 24 years, I understand the practical needs of small law firms. I also operated a successful law firm marketing company from 2001 to 2017 and have transitioned from that business in anticipation of the launch of monikur. I will draw from both of these experiences in this new endeavor.
