Undulating Fin Thruster

Abstract

Biomimetics is branching its application towards multiples sectors of science and technology. Inspired by fish propulsion mechanism, we have developed an underwater robot run by undulating fin propulsion. This device shows excellent performance during hovering and slow speed maneuvering in muddled environment, which are some major shortcomings of present AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) propulsion mechanism. These unique performance features can make our robot very handy for Defence, Offshore industry, Underwater research etc.

Our product overcomes the shortcomings of the present AUV technology. It can be an offset to conventional propeller propulsion technology.
