What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

The land is becoming a diminishing environmental resource due to its use for landfill waste disposal globally. South Africa has a 91% waste disposal rate to landfills, and the actual cost of disposal is 10 times that of associated waste materials and resources. The Health Care Industry is compelled to treat their waste before disposal, due to social and environmental risks for Health Care Risk Waste (HCRW), adding to its disposal costs. Current waste processing solutions do not address the existence of landfills, leaving 98 million tonnes of waste still landfilled.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The perception of waste and how the world treats waste is changing. Previously the main market driver for the waste and renewable energy market was based on economic factors. Other market drivers now exist, which has created a demand for new waste management companies. These include;- The change in dynamics, Environmental factors, Regulations and legislation. The past 20 years has seen a change in how we look at our environment. There has been a greater understanding of the economic, social and environmental risks of not managing waste. This realization has developed at different rates internationally, hence, the waste and renewable energy sector has been shaped by a change in the perception of the environment. There is a need to decarbonize the power sector by 60% and reduce CO2 emissions by 80% of current levels to ensure increases in global temperature do not exceed two degrees Celsius, which this concept addresses. When considering the demand and opportunity in today’s marketplace these points are prevalent: the problem of what we do with our waste is not going to go away, the demand for renewable energy is not going to go away, the pressure caused by diminishing fossil fuel supplies is increasing, the public feeling is that governments across the world are responsible, the need for new technologies that can deliver carbon reduction and waste reduction outcomes are increasingly bankable - which opens up the market for all investment, funds are increasingly available from traditional sources as well as from the PE sector. Those attributes will certainly contribute to the success of this project.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

We see waste as a useful resource. AMN Environmental provides a Waste – to – Energy (WtE) solution that diverts, about 95 – 97% of Health Care Risk Waste (HCRW) received in our processes, away from landfill sites. For HCRW collection companies which double their operations cost from treatment and disposal of waste, AMN Environmental is a waste management company that provides 40% cost saving in waste disposal rates and materials or resource recovery (energy). Unlike current WtE processes that use only organic waste types as feedstock, AMN Environmental incorporates both organic and inorganic waste types with process emissions exceeding stringent emission standards that result in a neutral carbon footprint.
