Product (Wearable Robot)


Exoskeleton device is a robot that can be used by people who have mobile disability. This invention has been done by three engineers from Birziet University in Palestine in 2015 ,while they were doing deep researches for their graduation project. The exoskeleton device got many awards such as: Innovation and excellence council award-Palestine, Imagine club-Microsoft, and others.

This team has introduced three versions of the product. The first one, it targets the people who have weaknesses in their muscles, it works by using sensors that receive signals from the nerves in lower limb to the processors which will produce the desired movement by the robot. The second one targets the people who have motor nerve dysfunction in their lower limb which can be controlled by joystick or any control panel. These two versions have been already designed and preparing for safety tests to reach the final step which is the selling. The later one is under development and research and it needs many years to be ready, the mechanism of this version is to get signals from brain to the robot for people who have quadriplegia. Our goal is to start a company in Palestine, then expand to other countries starting from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, then MENA region.

Our product has several benefits upon the quality of life and the government's expense. For example, it reduces the health costs.

This product will be produced after a year from the establishment of the company, and the break even will occur after two and a half years with 36 products. This product is considered to be profitable since the cost will be around 6000 $ and the price will be 18000 $, making a gross margin 9000-10000 $ .

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Our robot will have many benefits, because the robot will help more than 100000 persons in our community, also the Robot is the first Palestinian robot so no competitor in local market. such a robot will have many advantages in the disable people life, they will do some action they couldn’t do previously such as ascending and descending stairs, and also they could ride cars or public transportation easily.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Our product gives new solution for the disabled people, with new technology, it will increase the strength of human lower limb part and It's more comfort and suitable to the disabled people than the other solutions. Also many people want this product we made prototype and made a video for it, it was got more than 1M view in 3 days and we received many calls from people they want this product and in any price. This product will change many people lives.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

We are three engineers in different fields Electrical, Mechatronics and Software Engineering,and we have different skills and talents in other fields.Three successful engineers with different experience this made us a strong team,so we got many awards in management and also we got the Innovation and Excellence award from the Palestinian President. We are matching between the technology Knowledge which we got from our study and researches and the business management.
