Who is your customer?

The global live entertainment market is worth a whopping $55 billion, yet, 99% of performing artists are striving to be heard through the noise for a mere quarter of that market share, as the lion’s share goes to the top 1% of earners, the mega stars.. Bandster’s vision is to widen the pie for musicians by opening new markets based on current technologies.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

booking entertainment is an outdated and cumbersome procedure, both for event planners and for performing artists. Bandster makes the booking of an entertainment act as fast and as direct as booking accommodation online. Unlike other booking platforms, Bandster is not a mere online catalogue of performing groups; it is a smart booking platform powered by live data.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Bandster is not an online catalogue of entertainment acts. It is a data-driven booking platform, which makes the hiring of a performing group as short and direct as booking accommodation online. That means that it enables an event planner to type what he/she’s looking for, and when, and only get updated relevant search results. No other booking platform offers up to date information straight from the source. Bandster is also a band management and collaboration tool for performing artists AND a platform for them to get more work. By simply managing their bands on the go, performing artists feed the database with live and ever-changing data. That gives us the power to open new markets for the live entertainment industry, based on touring location, their availability and type.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

We are a very qualified and dynamic team, with great industry insights -one of our biggest strengths-, tech skills to build awesome tools and the business acumen to grow. Nektarios Cassar has worked as a bass player in 3 countries. He has done tours and sessions. He has great industry insights and he’s the product designer. Natalia, comes with more than 20 years of experience in sales, management and business strategy, having co-founded another 2 businesses. And Petros is a full-stack engineer with 13 years of experience in building apps and web software for international teams. The team is supported by 3 UK-based advisors. Adrian, a london-based professional guitar player, who has performed around the world with big names, such as Vanessa Mae. Briony Pope is an artist and a senior project manager with 18 years professional experience. Albert Marshall a lawyer at Sony PlayStation and a performing bass player. Like all booking platforms we are a double sided market - event planners on one hand, performing artists on the other- therefore, growth is a chicken and egg situation. We are solving this issue with the cunning use of… candy; Bandster the app, a band collaboration and management tool for performing artists, with a number of unique features, like group availability and streamlined decision making. We are offering this candy (the app) for free. In this way we are populating our database with tonnes of performing artists, who by simply managing their own work on the go, they are feeding the booking platform with the minute-by-minute data an event planner needs to access new interesting bands and book them fast. We have already launched the app. We have been experiencing an average weekly growth rate consistently above 10%, and retention rates that have surpassed our expectations. Musicians and other performing artists from more than 30 countries are using the app and 1 out of 5 invite their friends to use it, too. We now have 700+ users who have been managing more than 1000 events through the app. We have also started taking in bookings, testing, in this way, our business model.
