Abstract

Our Happy Shoes (Pty) Ltd, is a start-up company in Hatfield that specialize in shoe laundry and repairs services, we also provide value adding services such as waterproofing, colour restoration, shoes hygiene, deodorizing, and revitalization. In basic language we specialize in shoes care, maintenance and the extension of the useful life of shoes.

Who is your customer?

Our main customers are the students at the University of Pretoria, high school students in the region of Hatfield, the working class in the region of Hatfield and Arcadia and the Sports athletes at the university of Pretoria.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

We believe that humans have an emotional attachment to their shoes therefore we are there to extend that attachment. We extend the useful life of shoes through our repairs services. We save costs for students who discard their shoes having damages that can be fixed and again we save them time to focus on their studies through our shoe cleaning revitalizing services. We also protect humans from bacteria resulting from the sweat glands in their feet through our shoe cleaning and deodorizing service. University of Arizona collected germs and microbes on footwear. The researchers found 421,000 units of bacteria on the outside of the shoe, including E. coli, meningitis and diarrheal disease; Klebsiella pneumonia, a common source for wound and bloodstream infections as well as pneumonia; and Serratia ficaria, a rare cause of infections in the respiratory tract and wounds. This is why we play a huge role in keeping people safe from this unwanted bacteria.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

We have an online platform whereby people easily order for our services through our website( http://www.walksmiling.co.za) and we collect, service, and deliver their beloved shoes within 24 hours. We also let customers order for our services on social media platforms such as Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter. We pride ourselves with providing our services at a very cheap and faster rate than our competitors, which is mainly why we completely disrupted the market since our emergence 9 months ago. We let customers rate for our services through questions asked of how we could improve our services in the future to continue providing quality services. We're the only company in our region which provides solution to all shoe problems as this is important for diversifying our risk.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

We're already executing the idea, we definitely have disrupted the market as i have indicated through our cheap, faster and convenient services. We are available on all communications platforms to cater for everyone interested in our services. We let our clients be our bosses by instructing us specifically on how their shoes should be like after our services as commonly seen from our customizing services as we customize their shoes according to their individual specifications.
