Solar for Homes and businesses

Abstract

To provide for households, small businesses, and office Solar Energy for their every day electricity needs and be paid through a Rent to Own (R2O) model.

There would be a metering device that allows for owners of the Solar Home system to view their consumptions and know when time to recharge their system is due.

We intend to start with the 44 Local Government in Kano state and the 23 Local Government areas in Kaduna state installing an average of a 3.5Kva System for each district head in these states. Being leaders, the idea behind this strategy is to go through them, so their subjects have first-hand knowledge of the benefits of solar and will buy into the installation and the district heads themselves will better be able to support the project. The installation of these systems for all district heads in both states ensures that a total of about 50 kW systems in total are installed in these communities for district heads alone. Then we allow this trickle down to the ward heads and then the community heads then finally the people. in the first year with the above plan we should be installing close to a 1 MW in total solar installations in communities.

Who is your customer?

Our Major customers are Households and people from Rural communities. We segmented our customers using age and we find that though energy is important to all the people who fall within the 18-65 age range are the ones who do care about how their energy situation is and would go all out to make it better for themselves.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Energy Problem and it serves all people in our immediate vicinity of Northern Nigeria and we can already envisage a growth all over the country.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Problem with Solar energy is that the high cost of initial capital defeats the good intention of the customer to buy and the wil of the seller top sell as such people leave the business regularly. We have decided to stick on and find out what would work and from our research one thing that keeps coming back to us is that if the product could be sold and payments retrieved instalmentally will make a huge sense as such we thought of the R2O model and we are now putting more of our effort towards promoting this and we can already see huge sucess.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

We have been used to working directly in the field with our customers. Our distributors have always been among the people whom we service allowing for easier communication and deployment of our systems. This is also the major edge we have for now above every other company doing what we do because most are situated in urban areas and only work out of urban areas and we go all the way. they are also conservative about financing and not going through the R2O model and this is another edge we will have over them
