Turbulent

Abstract

Turbulent believes in decentralization of energy and learning from nature. That's why we have developed a new kind of Hydropower technology based on the natural principle of a vortex. The turbine requires a very small amount of height difference and generates clean, fish friendly energy. This allows us to install a grid of our turbines along the length of a river and generate up to the same amount of energy as large dam hydropower without the dam. The investment is payed back in under 3 year and will earn money for the next 20 years with minimal maintenance.

Additional Questions

Who is your customer?

Our customers are existing hydropower developers and energy distributors. Also mining, canal owners, agricultural and forestry enterprises are customers for single projects.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

We create clean and reliable energy from a resource that's already there: the rivers and canals. And we do it in a way that has a minimal impact on the surroundings so that the installation is easy and the ecology doesn't get impacted.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

We designed the turbine for easy installation, mass manufacturing and fish friendliness. Because of the limited size we can easily transport it, allowing us to go remote at a good price.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

We have worked together for 3 years on different startups and our founder team complements each other. We have learned the necessary skills for working in our industry and have looked for partners to add the skills we didn't possess.
