Recycling plastic waste in ecoboat

Abstract

Since one year i design an ecological way to valorize and recycle plastic waste collected on the Londji beach and Douala area. The project is implement in Madiba&Nature a local non profit organazation that i'm the founder.

Plastic bottles are used to build ecoboat or canoe, those boat are used in artisanal fishing activities, and local ecoboat trip into ecotourim.

This local method is a real answer to fight again marine and urban pollution by pmastic waste.

Globally there is more than 250 000 artisanal fishermen in Cameroon that could used this ecoboat. A study realised concluded that 7 fishermen on 10 from now accept this ecological canoe.

Cameroon is a country with many touristic opportunities, from aquatic areas to beach we find many tour opperator. This sector is also open to this new product in ecotoirism. The promotion of ecotourism started by Madiba&Nature show that many people are interested to have an ecoboat trip with us in Londji- Kribi.

According to the National Minister of tourisme there is more than 5000 hotels in Cameroon, and all could be interested to have those ecocanoe in their swimming pool.

Who is your customer?

The direct target of ecological canoes is made up of fishermen, tourist operators or aquatic sport company.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

The eco-friendly recycled plastic canoe solves three major problems, namely the lack of fishing canoes, the reduction of pollution and the reduction of deforestation.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The target market is fishing and tourism. The advantages that guarantee the success of these ecological boats are first of all related to the strategic aspect because the policy of sustainable development of Cameroon like that of the United Nations is the search for solutions of adaptations to the climatic changes. Thus Madiba & Nature will work with the authorized in charge of the environmental management and the fishing to promote these boats in the fishing and limit deforestation in the fisheries. In addition, the low cost of accessibility of the boats, the durability and the proximity with the supplier are all arguments which favor the success of this innovation.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

The inclusive community system of waste management and recycling of plastic waste in Ecoboat is an innovation that sees the acceptance of local populations in Londji and also in the vast territory of Cameroon. Its use in fishing activities and ecotourism makes it possible to accentuate a very global communication and promotion of Ecoboat as the best product to use because it contributes to preserving nature and boosting economic activities. A strong point will be its purchase price which will be applied at the lowest cost to facilitate access. This will go in the same way that we have already started with the satisfaction of a first fishing village. This strategy of offering mass canoes to the advantage of facilitating a community of customers who become at the same time partners of the project because contribute to clean their beaches. In addition, the Ecoboat proposal in leisure is an innovation and a change in the habit of people in leisure in Cameroon. This is really appreciated and will simply be realized and proposed. We will also provide maintenance services after sales. We also used Ecoboat in our ecotourism activity to make sure people are used to making a really important promotion of our activities.
