Abstract

CURE is working on developing the most affordable myoelectric prosthetic hand that is 3D printed using an ecological raw material, recyclable, personalized and controlled via muscles.

Who is your customer?

Our final customers are with upper-limb amputees. Our direct customers are private clinics,paramedical and research centers and hospitals.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Did you ever imagine that holding the hand of the one we love, using mobile phones or holding a cup of water, could be luxury? In a matter of fact, more than 30 million persons worldwide do not have access to that luxury because they lost their hands, because they are amputees. 70% of them do not have any prosthetics because it is not available and accessible in most of third world countries,20% have esthetic ones and only 10% of them can afford robotic prosthetics because of a high price that can reach $100 000. Financially, most of amputees are dependent on others. Academically, children will face difficulties to integrate schools like their peers. Professionally, amputees face problems to find jobs after the trauma especially with a missing limb. Socially, most of them lose hope, happiness, and self-confidence since this traumatic limb amputation is a catastrophic injury and an irreversible act that causes inability to support self and drives them toward various psychiatric disorders.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

First,there's no any local producer of there prosthetic limbs and more than that there's no producers in the MENA region. Second, our prosthetic will be so affordable for the people who couldn't buy the other prosthetics in the market. Third, we are offering to each patient, a personalized, stylish and sleek prosthetic since we are working closely with amputees and not just designing a solution and they are helping us design the solution. These prosthetics will reflect patient’s personality and preferences to make them feel proud of their prosthetics and to change the image of prosthetics from medical devices to bionic arms inspired by superheroes and characters. Children who did not have access to these devices because they are not made small enough or because their parents cannot afford to supply them with it since it is so expensive, will be able to get a personalized one that will be even a source of pride and inspiration for them among their peers. The most important part is our 5-year goal which is implementing our own center where we will empower physically disabled person through a 3-part program: *Technological through our products such as prosthetics *Social and psychological through specialists and trainers *Trainings so they can start their own SMEs

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Our vision is one of our strengths and it's always inspiring our team since it reflect our beliefs and goals : "We empower people to challenge their disability". We are more than a startup that will manufacture prosthetics,we are change-makers and we will be superheroes for millions of people all around the world by working on other related project such as social programs to help physically-disabled people to have a new and better life by learning new professional and soft skills. Added to that,our team is multidisciplinary and we master what we do in a perfect way. We have that global citizenship spirit which helps us to think and act in a global way. Finally,we believe in our project and in each other,we believe in our future and we working hard to get to the next levels.
