One Mission Fundraising

Abstract

One Mission was inspired 100% by our trips to Haiti during the arduous wait of bringing home our two adopted Haitian sons. We witnessed so many individuals and groups doing great things in Haiti and our hope was to find a way to help those types of people raise funds to continue doing good. In fact, on a plane ride home from Haiti in 2013, we penned on a napkin our vision for what is now One Mission. We make beautiful, responsible, positive message-based products people love: soft, comfy tees, locally hand-stamped silver and leather jewelry, note cards & art prints, soy candles & wax melts, mugs, and often create custom products for our causes/funds. We are also proud that we are a marketplace for Haiti artisans to sell their goods. There are always fundraising needs for all types of people, groups and organizations, so our mission is simple: provide people with an EASY way to raise funds they need to do good and change the world. We are the first company to combine product fundraising, crowdfunding and custom t-shirt fundraising into one platform.

Who is your customer?

One Mission's primary customers are the people needing to raise money for a good cause. We call them world-changers. They are adoptive families, families facing a medical crisis, non-profits, schools, churches and mission teams, to name a few; anyone wishing to make a difference for someone else.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Fundraising can be hard, and yet it's often very necessary. One Mission provides a unique online platform that helps make it easier for these individuals and groups to raise money. We are the first company to combine high-impact product fundraising, crowdfunding (zero platform fee), and custom t-shirt/products into one platform. For non-profits, we become their online store, carrying their custom branded products that their supporters can purchase, with 40% of that purchase going back to their cause. For them, it eliminates the need to keep inventory, guess on sizing, etc. We try to help these individuals and groups every step of the way, including promotion of their fund, order fulfillment, shipping, etc.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Because there is such a need for Fundraising in the world, we feel we can be a key player in the industry. We're doing something a little different, we have products people love which, many times, leads to repeat support for the Funds. Successful Funds lead to more successful funds. We have yet to find anyone who does not love what we do and how we do it. Word of mouth as been huge for us. We also have a powerful story of how we got started. It really resonates with people. We're simply trying to make a difference and to help others do good.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

The biggest advantage we have is that we're the first company to combine these three fundraising avenues. (Product fundraising, crowdfunding, & custom t-shirts). Also, with the exception of our Haiti made items, all products are made in-house at our Mt. Vernon location. We've invested in the equipment to print the tees, pour the soy candles, print the note cards, canvases, and art prints. We hold our products to the highest possible standards and have found they are items people love, and buy again and again, meaning they support a great cause again and again.
