Who is your customer?

Regarding to the research from Pew Research Center, it stated that sport training is the top extracurricular activities they choose for children to participate, especially basketball. Parents who have higher income and educational level are most likely to invest on outside programs because they believe that quality of training are more focused than school programs. Moreover, schools emphasize on arranging sport competition because it increases self-esteem, health, and concentration; thus, leading to the better grade. Based on the opportunities, we set the hypothesis and experiments to see which direction we are and we will do to achieve the goal.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

LA kids population is accounted of 2.3 million kids, based on kidsdata website. According to USAToday 2014, 21 million of children joined in non-school youth sports which have been expanding. It is accounted for 83% specialize in one sport. The majority of children who are going for specializing falls in between 6 to 13 years old and the top three sports are Soccer, Baseball, and Basketball; based on Ameritrade survey. Parents’ expectations are to see their kids have self-confidence, skill development, turn pro, and get college scholarship which they see the importance to support as much as they can. They eventually perceive the non-school training is much more focused and better quality than receiving at school. With parents who have income $40,000 are willing to spend on kids’ sport training around $550 per month in average. In terms of athletic coaching, up to 85% from the Ameritrade surve agree that the quality of coaching is very important. There are a total of schools in LA at 1,147 schools combining both private and public schools of elementary and junior high school with a total students of 734,641; regarding to LA Unified School District website. The experiment result of t-test indicated that student’s nutrition knowledge significantly increased after the nutrition education lesson was implemented according to research from University of Southern Mississippi.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

We provide quality results. Parents want to invest in their child’s development and they also want their children to be successful once they reach college. We get kids college ready.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Our team is the team to make this happen because we have a founder that has the track record of successfully training kids in improving their basketball skills, nutritional education and school work. We also have an experienced marketing executive, engineer, an accomplished basketball coach, and an experienced outreach and events coordinator. What we are still missing is an operations manager and additional trainors, which we plan to get through referrals and online ads.
