Abstract

Baobab Circle has developed a mobile health application to help in mitigating increasing life style diseases such as diabetes and hypertension in Africa.

The application 'Afya Pap', offers daily customized tips (through a conversation style feature), blood glucose and blood pressure tracking and a consultative feature all at an affordable cost to help users manage their conditions.

Who is your customer?

We are targeting users in developing economies in Africa, Asia and South America 70% of whom have limited to no access to basic healthcare.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

According to world health reports non-communicable disease are on the rise (by 2020 will overtake infectious diseases as the main killer on the continent) yet very little information on how to manage them is available to the public. Baobab Circle aims to bridge this gap and hopefully curb the rising rates of non-communicable diseases.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The daily customized tips that we provide are key to making this product a success. The tips are regionally customized and are also tailored to ones needs and interest.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Baobab Circle is currently engaged in creating useful local partnerships to accelerate uptake of the product among its user base. Currently we have the advantage of first to market as no such product exists in the markets we cover.
