StartHub Africa

Abstract

StartHub Africa (hereafter: StartHub) started in Uganda in 2017 and aspires to become the largest entrepreneurship ecosystem across African universities by 2020. To reach this goal, we start at the base of such an ecosystem and offer practical entrepreneurship skilling through local lecturers and entrepreneurs at universities and similar institutions. By that, StartHub enables each entrepreneurially minded student to build a venture from scratch. This helps countries to stand up to their innovative potential by finding the best talents at universities. This entrepreneurship skilling is complemented with further support until small ventures have become profitable businesses contributing to economic development and job creation. Hence, we turn job seekers into job creators. By 2020 StartHub aims to:

1) Operate in at least five different Sub-Saharan African countries

2) Cooperate with at least 50 universities with more than 500,000 students

3) Establish over 10,000 jobs through companies that emerged from our platform.
