Sapwood Air Fresheners

Abstract

Sapwood is an all natural air freshener company. Our mission is to inspire a sense of adventure and create an opportunity to connect with nature in everyday life, while also engaging society in a way that gives people a chance to give back to the environment. We believe that we can make a difference by planting a tree every time someone purchases one of our high quality air fresheners.

Who is your customer?

We will primarily focus our marketing towards the environmentally aware consumer. We believe that our product has the potential to stand out among other competitors in the air freshener market because of our company values and the quality of our products.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

It is hard to find an aesthetically pleasing car air freshener. We want to solve this problem by providing a high quality, hanging car air freshener. This is our first product, but we plan to expand into several other markets in the fragrance industry. In addition, deforestation is a huge problem around the world. For every product that we sell, we will plant a tree, which in turn will help in the reforestation process.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Sapwood is entering a market that is dominated by legacy companies. Companies like Little Trees, Yankee Candle, Glade, Air-Wick, and Febreze. With these companies dominating the industry, there has been little change in car air fresheners over the past 5 years. This is where Sapwood enters. We plan to appeal to our customers in two ways. By establishing ourselves as the best looking car air freshener on the market, and by planting a tree with each air freshener sold. Sapwood appeals to a large audience because we offer the customer a product that looks good, smells good, and is affordable.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Marketing to the public will be key in our success as we grow. To do this, we plan on establishing our brand on social media and our website as well as having our product available through many different outlets. We plan on providing our product to stores like REI, Basspro, The Great Outdoors, etc. Online we will be providing our product through outlets like Amazon, our company website, and several other promotional sites. Most of our marketing promotions will be through our commercial and several other videos on Sapwood planting trees.
