Additional Questions

Who is your customer?

The product is specifically targeted for those who race using Motorsport vehicles with modular racing seats. The need is present due to the multiple occurrences of back injuries and even paralyzation as a resultant of a high speed crash during a race. Thus, every driver who operates these types of cars, if made aware of this product, would see the tactile benefit of mounting this product to the seat of their vehicle. Due to the reasonable price- for- benefit nature of the product, any business or individual who would purchase one of these vehicles is part of the target market. Demographically, this market is composed of many different ages and economic situations across the country. While this may sound like a niche market, it is important to know that modular racing seats are the primary apparatus of more than 70 different types of Motorsport racing vehicles.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Our motivation to start this business is to prevent neck and spinal injuries during the event of a motorsports crash. The number of neck and spinal injuries each year from a blunt force impact experienced by a racer is staggering. With roughly 500+ dirt tracks in the United States alone, and potentially 100,000 plus drivers nationwide, if only 10% per year would have a accident that cause a neck or spinal injury, that is over 1000 people per year that are effected and can be helped with our solution. We are very passionate about motorsports and want to help drivers stay on their feet and walk to see their families after the race.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

This product will be successful in our desired market because of the relentless desire, passion, and culture established by the SafeSeat team. Our passion for racing, and the safety of drivers will allow us to create, produce, and distribute the best functioning product that will be able to prove itself in real world application. With no other companies attempting the direction of solution that we are, we have a real opportunity to act quickly, execute, and provide a safety solution to drivers that can impact not only their race careers, but their everyday lives.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

SafeSeat has one direct competitor, and several indirect competitors. Our direct competitor is a company called the Crash Pad (http://www.802solutions.com/crash-pad-products/). The crash pad provides the same solution as the SafeSeat, but ultimately does not provide the same results we know the SafeSeat can. The crash pad places a piece of foam or rubber between the seat and the driver, allowing the driver to still experience the same forces that the chassis does, making it far less effective. SafeSeat places the product between the chassis and the seat, distributing the force across the chassis and the device BEFORE the forces get to the driver.
