Meme and Creme

Abstract

Meme and Creme is a cafe with trendy pop-culture inspired drinks and treats in an English high tea style setting. Aside from having our own house tea blends, which will revolve around highlighting and celebrating major tea producing countries, there will be new themes for the shop every 2-3 weeks in which all the treats and decor will be changed according to the theme. We aim to cater towards different people from vastly different backgrounds coming together to celebrate a concept that has been widely accepted into our culture and are worthy of an Instagram post. Some themes include: Memes of the Month, Mermaid, Unicorn, Anime/ Cartoon such as Alice in Wonderland, Popular/Netflix Shows, and Holidays. Our teahouse will offer a wide selection of pop culture inspired treats, unique tea flavors sourced locally and from several

countries. We will also have a small gift shop with our store merchandise.

Who is your customer?

1. Tea Drinkers: Tea enthusiasts will recognize our superior quality of products and remain a loyal base. Our high quality whole loose leaf tea will have a more potent flavor and will be richer in antioxidants than the usually left over dusting found in regular tea bags. 2. Health Enthusiasts: Tea has been proven to have several health benefits, which will attract health conscious customers. 3. Meme Queens: This customer group would be defined as those who are very much into foodie trends, which would include memes and pop culture. A majority of this group would consist of millennials and generation Z.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Our cafe serves the need for customers to consume trendy and popular teas and treats that are instagrammable and photogenic for all of their social following to see. With our ever changing themes and catering to different trends, our cafe will always be hip and popular. Our quality teas, treats, and themes will give customers a unique experience found no where else.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Keeping up with trends and staying trendy has the popular and current interests of people and customers. People find these trends, especially with food, on instagram, which is why it is important for our products to be trendy and instagrammable. The food industry has seen a recent increase in restaurants trying to appeal to their younger customers such as Starbucks releasing their limited edition unicorn drink, rolled ice cream tacos, unicorn cafes such as Creme and Sugar. However, after the initial peak in interest, these fads die down and become obsolete until the next big trend as the graph demonstrates. We decided to expand on this concept to a café that is trendy and will remain trendy by rotating new themes. Our brand will stand for continuous innovation. Food will always be trendy and everyone simply needs food (and something to Instagram.)

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Our decor and treats will revolve around the theme of the month. To give a little preview, for our Jurassic Park theme, we will have a drink called Tea-Rex. Depending on our theme, we will have fun facts printed on our to-go cups/napkins. We also aim to eventually collaborate with popular brands such as Netflix and their upcoming shows and movies to go along with creative titles such as Stranger Tea. We aim to source as local and sustainable as possible Although we are planning to import exotic teas, we also plan on supporting our local farmers by directly sourcing our ingredients for our desserts. Also having a unique atmosphere and product is important. Although boba shops and possibly Starbucks would be our competition, the upscale elegant environment and the products will have a unique twist to them that is not found elsewhere. We also plan to have a monthly subscription box. In the future we also plan to have a subscription box that will include special tea blends, a choice book of the month, tea facial masks, and other trendy goodies. Four in five consumers drink tea, with Millennials being the most likely (87% of millennials drink tea).
