Lite Desk


Lite Desk is a modular desk system that is remarkably lite and strong. It is strong enough to support the weight of a car, yet lite enough to put in your backpack and carry on a plane. Customers can choose from multiple flexible platforms, perfect for college students, apartment owners, and up.

Who is your customer?

Young adults striving to make sound investments in their future. People who don’t want to invest in furniture that look like their parents and don’t want to waste money on low quality, one time use, dead end furniture. This customer is forward thinking, appreciates designs. Wants flexibility, wants knowledge that furniture can be repurposed and still maintain its relevance.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

The unique ability of the components allows the furniture to be deconstructed and redesigned into a totally different piece of furniture. It eliminates waste and allows the owner the ability to live and grow as their needs and lives change. The original piece may start out as a computer desk and evolve into a changing table and then back to a coffee table or a book shelf. The possibilities are endless. Think an erector set of furniture. By supplying design ideas, the possibilities are endless.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

Today’s millennials are concerned about the future. They want to be able to hold a small carbon footprint. Modular, repurposed components allow the consumer to redesign and reuse the product over and over again. This provides quality investments that change and grow and does not contribute to throw- away one furniture.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

The team will design and create several prototypes to display on a website. The website will also feature how the original design can be reconfigured into new products with minimal new parts. The advantage of using video is to demonstrate how easily an average person can reconfigure utilizing easy to follow “how to" videos.
