InvestmentsRevolution is a platform providing free research and insights on public equity investment. We curate crowdsourced investment articles and research on publicly listed companies. Our Editors work with independent contributors to provide well-presented insightful articles.

Who is your customer?

Our target audience is the general public in Australia and New Zealand who are interested in investing in public companies. Currently about 1 million New Zealanders and 8 million Australians invest directly in publicly listed companies. A larger proportion also invest via mutual funds and their superannuation providers and may have an interest in individual companies. This means that a significant proportion of the population have an interest in investment ideas and would like to read quality research.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

InvestmentsRevolution (www.investmentsrevolution.com) is an online platform that aims to provide investors with high quality actionable investment ideas sourced from independent financial analysts and writers at no cost. Our editors will work with independent writers to provide well-presented research ideas for the general public which will be free from any conflict of interest.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

InvestmentsRevolution is a platform that bridges content providers with content receivers and we create value on both sides of the platform by matching the two. Currently in New Zealand and Australia most independent investment information and research on publicly listed companies is restricted to the clients of banks or brokerages, this means that most investors have little ability to access independent research on companies that they are planning to invest in. They have to become a client of a bank or brokerage in order to receive research reports. Banks and Brokerages often only allow High Net Worth individuals to become clients which means many investors are not able to read high quality investment research. Also, often banks and brokerages only cover a narrow range of stocks and may have a conflict of interest when making recommendations if the company is also a commercial client of theirs.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

Our website has been running since March at www.investmentsrevolution.com and we have already started attracting student and professional writers. We will cover all ASX100 and NZX50 stocks as well as selected high profile stocks from around the world which will generate a lot of local interest in our website. We will source research from two sources: We are using senior University Finance undergraduates to write articles on selected stocks, as well as providing readers with excellent investment ideas, this helps students develop their analytical and writing skills and publicise their work. This will also help them in their future employment as they will be able to highlight their investment ideas and articles to future employers. Students are paid approximatley $25 per article and can earn a bonus if their article is viewed over 1,000 times. Professional researchers and equity analysts. We source quality research from professional equity analysts and financial writers, this gives them further exposure on our website and gives our readers access to high quality research from independent writers. We do not currently pay for articles from professional writers but they do get credited as the author and can create an author profile on our website.
