Additional Questions

Who is your customer?

Victory Garden sells it's gardening kits to College and University students, primarily those students who utilize university owned housing or dorms.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

College and University Students do not have access to fresh foods; there are several reasons for this. First, fresh produce is expensive and many College and University Students cannot afford to budget for these expenses. Secondly, Students who live in dorms can become disconnected from nature because of their housing and seasonal difficulties. Students can try to remedy this through activities like gardening clubs, hiking, or other activities. The problem with these remedies is that they are often time consuming and students do not usually have a lot of free time. Students can create DIY gardening kits and systems, but it is difficult to find a place that sells the right type of plants for their environment and season. Students do not generally have access to spacious living quarters, and traditional DIY indoor gardening solutions can be difficult to manage. Also many of the quality gardening kits on the market aren’t targeted towards gardening beginners, the kits are too large for a dorm space, only produce offered is herbs, and the starting price is $50 and go up to $200! There are indoor kits made for newbies ,however, they are marketed towards young children. Most full time college and university Students experience these issues, and these issues are more potent for those Students who live in University provided housing. This issue affects 200 million people. 80 million of these are Students living in University of College owned dorms, and are especially affected by this issue.
